not just scratching the surface

You see a lot of older homes here in the Tucson Foothills that claim to be TOTALLY UPDATED,  BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED, or EXQUISITELY RE-DONE-LIKE NEW. Seems like totally, beautifully and exquisitely are subject to wide interpretation.

Because I find that many of them just scratch the surface, a little something here- a little there, just enough to give the place a freshened-up look, while around the edges and just beneath the surface all the old stuff still lurks.

i totally agree. that is the best house i've seen - hands down - in all of my foothills home visits. it is so beautifully done - not only in the good spirit of being green, but in being tasteful and cohesive. kudos. and, lucky buyer of that home. i think it's a phenomenal price for a home of that quality and promise. if everyone in the market to reno just did *one* thing that this house did, we'd live in a better world. i know i walked away from that visit with a list in my head of how to do things and do them right.
