I finally got around to stopping by that CASH ONLY foreclosure on Salida del Sol, the one I mentioned the other day - GOT CASH, 40% off
There’s a lot of work to be done- the kitchen is missing, no sign of it, as are other fixtures and appointments throughout the house. A few of the big windows are broken, the pool is green and what looks as if it was once a very nice covered outdoor area, that had a complete kitchen, has been scavenged of every appliance, fixture and scrap of anything worth stealing. And one end of the house was turned into a quagmire of rooms that look like a recording studio slapped together by a bunch of speed freaks in a hurry.
With all that, and priced at $499,900, the listing agent tells me they’ve got 15 cash offers in hand, and more on the way. My reaction was, so what, maybe the highest offer is $250. And maybe it is. But I heard from someone who heard from someone that the offers are up to $525k. Who knows, but, in the 20 minutes I was there today, there were at least half a dozen buyers buzzing round, and that’s on a hot Monday afternoon in June.
This one sold for $830,000 in 05 and, oddly enough, the house up the street, which sold for $850,000 in 06, also sold as a foreclosure this past March, for $495,000.
